📖 Verse Of The Day

🧠 Devotion

It’s easy to believe that God is done with you. Maybe you’ve messed up too many times or walked too far away. Maybe you’ve tried to change but always end up right back where you started.

If that’s how you feel, you’re not alone. And you’re not too far gone.

In Luke 15, Jesus told a story about a son who walked away from everything good in his life. He demanded his inheritance early, left home, and spent it all chasing what he thought would make him happy. For a while, it worked. Then the money ran out. The people disappeared. And he ended up broke, hungry, and working in a pigpen just to survive.

At some point, he looked around and realized how far he had fallen. The Bible says, “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!’” (Luke 15:17)

So he decided to go home. Not because he felt worthy, but because he knew where love lived.

What happened next is the whole point of the story. While the son was still far away, his father saw him. That means the father had been watching for him — waiting for a sign that his boy was coming home.

The father didn’t wait at the door with a lecture or a list of rules. He ran. He wrapped his son in his arms, gave him new clothes, and threw a party to celebrate. The son tried to explain how sorry he was, but the father wasn’t interested in excuses. He was just happy his child was back.

That’s what grace looks like.

This story isn’t just about a family reunion. It’s about God and us. Jesus told it to show that no matter how far we wander, God never stops looking for us. His love doesn’t run out. His mercy doesn’t expire.

Psalm 103:12 says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” In other words, when you come to Him, your past doesn’t get to follow you home.

Grace is not permission to keep running — it’s the invitation to finally stop. It’s the moment you realize that you don’t have to fix yourself before coming to God. You just have to turn toward Him.

If you’re tired of trying to earn what was always free, come home.

If you think God’s love has limits, look again.

The father in the story didn’t stop watching the road. And God hasn’t stopped watching yours.

He’s not waiting to punish you. He’s ready to run to you.

Because you’re never too far gone for grace.
