📖 Verse Of The Day

🧠 Devotion
When you look at the world, the stars, the oceans, and every detail of life, you see something true about God. He loves to create. The Bible begins with these words: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Creation was not random or accidental. Everything God made had purpose, order, and beauty. He creates because it is part of who He is: powerful, good, and full of life.
But among everything He created, one thing was different. “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…’ So God created mankind in His own image; in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:26-27). This shows that people are unlike anything else in creation. We were not spoken into existence like the animals or the stars. Genesis 2:7 says that God “formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.” God’s breath gave Adam life and identity. Humanity was shaped personally by the hands of the Creator Himself.
Being made in God’s image means we were designed to reflect Him, to think, love, and create like Him. God did not make us to be distant observers of His world but active participants in it. That is why He placed Adam in the garden “to work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15). Work was not a curse. It was part of God’s perfect plan. We were made to create, build, and care for what He made. Every time we bring beauty, order, or goodness into the world, we reflect the One who made us.
Psalm 8:4-6 describes how special this is:
“What is mankind that You are mindful of them, human beings that You care for them? You made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of Your hands.”
Even the angels, who constantly worship God, are amazed that He gave humanity such honor. God did not create us because He needed us. He created us because He wanted to share Himself, His love, His creativity, and His purpose with beings who could know Him.
Although sin broke that perfect relationship, God’s purpose never changed. Through Jesus, He began creating again, this time within human hearts. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). The God who shaped the stars still creates today, and His greatest work is transforming people to reflect Him again.
You were made by a Creator who loves to create. He made you like Him, to create, to love, and to reveal His goodness in everything you do.
