📖 Verse Of The Day

🧠 Devotion
Two men set out to build a house.
Both had the same goal. Both worked hard. Both wanted a place to stand when the storms came.
Jesus told this story in Matthew 7:24–27.
One man built on rock. The other on sand.
At first, the houses looked the same.
Strong walls. Level roofs. Fresh paint.
But what mattered most couldn’t be seen — the foundation.
Then the storm came.
Rain fell. Wind roared. Water rose.
When it passed, only one house was still standing.
Jesus said the wise builder is the one who hears His words and obeys them.
The foolish builder hears the same words but does nothing with them.
Both heard. Both built. Both faced a storm.
The difference was obedience.
That’s what Jesus wanted His listeners to understand. Every person builds a life. Every choice, word, and habit is a brick in that foundation. Some build on feelings, success, or comfort. Others build on God’s Word.
James 1:22 says, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”
It’s possible to know truth and never live by it.
A house built on sand can look steady in calm weather, but when pressure comes, it shows what’s underneath.
Jesus didn’t say the wise man escaped the storm. He said his house stood through it.
Obedience doesn’t prevent hardship — it prepares you for it.
Proverbs 10:25 says, “When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.”
Storms reveal foundations.
They test what we built our lives on.
Building on rock takes time. It’s steady work — prayer, patience, and daily obedience. It’s not quick, but it lasts.
The foolish builder might have finished first, but his work couldn’t stand.
The wise builder dug deep. He built to last.
That’s the question Jesus leaves us with:
What are you building your life on?
The rock is obedience to Christ — not just hearing His words, but living by them. The sand is anything else.
Jesus ended His story with a warning and a promise.
If you build your life on Him, the storms will come, but you will stand.

🙏 Prayer (Guided by ACTS)
When you’re not sure how to pray, A.C.T.S. gives you a simple path to follow: Adore, Confess, Thank, and Ask.
Adoration: Lord, You are my foundation. Your Word is steady and true. Everything lasting begins with You.
Confession: Forgive me for the times I have heard Your Word but not lived by it. Help me to obey You fully.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for being faithful through every storm. Thank you for the peace that comes from standing on Your truth.
Supplication: Teach me to build my life on You each day. Let my choices, wordsmith and heart rest on Your solid foundation.
In Jesus name, Amen
