The book of Esther is one of the most unusual books in the Bible. If you read it from start to finish, you will notice something surprising. God’s name is never mentioned. There are no prayers written down and no miracles described. Yet, God’s fingerprints are all over the story. Esther reminds us that even when God feels hidden, He is still at work.
Esther’s story begins with an unlikely rise to power. She was a young Jewish woman living in a foreign land, far from home. Through a series of events, she was chosen to be queen of Persia. To most people it may have looked like chance, but in reality it was God placing her exactly where she needed to be.
Her true purpose soon became clear. A man named Haman convinced the king to sign a law that would destroy all the Jewish people. When Esther’s cousin Mordecai heard about it, he begged her to go before the king and plead for their lives. But this was not a simple request. In those days, no one could approach the king without being invited. If Esther walked into his presence unannounced, she could be put to death.
Esther faced a choice. She could stay quiet and hope to save herself, or she could risk everything for her people. That is when Mordecai spoke words that changed everything: “Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.”
Those words pushed Esther to see that her position was no accident. She was queen for a reason. And with courage, she chose to act. Esther risked her life, and because of her bravery, her people were saved.
This ancient story speaks directly to us today. You may not be royalty, but you have been placed in your family, your workplace, your school, and your community for a purpose. None of it is random. Even when God feels silent, He is still arranging details and guiding your steps.
There will be times when fear tells you to stay silent, but faith calls you to step forward. Like Esther, your choice to trust God can impact far more people than you realize. You may be born for a single moment that changes everything.
