Good Morning. In our last devotion Job longed for a mediator. Today we see how Moses became the mediator before the mediator โ once again foreshadowing Jesus.
๐ Verse Of The Day
โThe Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.
โ Deuteronomy 18:15

๐ง Devotion
Moses said: โThe Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.โ
In our last devotion, we looked at Job, who longed for someone to stand between him and God. Job wished for a Mediator. Today we see how Moses not only stepped into that role for Israel but also pointed to the day when the true Mediator, Jesus Christ, would come.
Moses lived in a time when Israel constantly struggled with sin and rebellion. Again and again, the people turned away from God, built idols, and doubted His promises. In those moments, Godโs judgment could have destroyed them, yet Moses stood in the gap. When Israel worshiped the golden calf, Moses went before the Lord and begged for mercy, saying, โPlease forgive their sinโฆ but if not, blot me out of the book you have written.โ (Exodus 32:32). Moses was willing to lay down his own life for the people. That is the heart of a mediator: someone who stands in the middle, pleading for others.
But as great as Moses was, he could not carry the sins of the people. He could pray for them, he could plead for them, but he could not save them. He himself needed forgiveness too. This is why in Deuteronomy 18:15, Moses told the people that one day God would raise up a Prophet like him, someone they must listen to. That Prophet is Jesus Christ.
Here is the difference:
Moses led Israel out of slavery in Egypt. Jesus leads us out of slavery to sin.
Moses gave Israel the law written on stone. Jesus fulfills the law and writes it on our hearts.
Moses prayed for God to forgive the people. Jesus became the sacrifice that secured our forgiveness forever.
Moses stood between God and Israel for a time. Jesus stands between God and all people for all eternity.
Moses foreshadowed Jesus in his role as a leader, a lawgiver, and a mediator. But where Mosesโ work was limited, Jesusโ work is complete. Moses pointed to Him when he said, โYou must listen to Him.โ
From Jobโs cry for a Mediator to Mosesโ example as a mediator, the Old Testament shows us the same truth: humanity cannot reach God on our own. We need someone greater to stand in the middle. That someone is Jesus. He is the Mediator Job longed for, the Mediator Moses foreshadowed, and the Mediator we have today who brings us to God once and for all.

๐ Prayer (Guided by ACTS)
When youโre not sure how to pray, A.C.T.S. gives you a simple path to follow: Adore, Confess, Thank, and Ask.
Adoration: God, I praise You for sending Jesus, the mediator Moses pointed to.
Confession: Forgive me for the times that I try to stand on my own, instead of trusting You.
Thanksgiving: Thank you that Jesus did what Moses could not, He gave His life to secure my forgiveness, forever.
Supplication: Help me to listen to Jesus, just as Moses said we must, and follow him with all my heart.
In Jesus name, Amen
