📖 Verse Of The Day

🧠 Devotion

The idea that “Jesus is coming soon” did not start with social media, news headlines, or end-times predictions. It comes straight from Scripture. In Revelation chapter twenty two, Jesus says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” These were some of His final recorded words. They were not meant to give a date. They were meant to remind believers that His return is certain.

Today many people get caught up trying to guess when Jesus will come back. They look for signs, timelines, and clues. But Jesus made something very clear in Matthew chapter twenty four. He said no one knows the day or the hour. Not the angels. Not the prophets. Not any teacher or pastor. Only the Father knows. This means trying to predict the rapture is not only unhelpful, it goes against what Jesus taught. The Bible calls us to be ready, not to guess.

A good example of this comes from Acts chapter one. Right before Jesus returned to heaven, the disciples asked Him if He was about to restore the kingdom. They wanted a timeline. They wanted details. Jesus told them, “It is not for you to know the times or seasons the Father has set by His own authority.” Then He redirected them. Their job was to live faithfully and carry out the mission He gave them. His return would happen, but the timing belonged to God.

Scripture gives more clarity in Second Peter chapter three. Peter writes that the Lord is not slow in keeping His promise. God is patient because He wants people to have time to turn to Him. The return of Jesus is certain, but God’s timing is based on His mercy, not our schedule.

Jesus also spoke often about staying awake spiritually. In Matthew chapter twenty four He said His return would be like a thief in the night. A thief does not announce a plan or give a warning. Jesus used that picture to teach that His followers should live prepared, not distracted or careless.

He repeated this idea in the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew chapter twenty five. Five were ready and five were not. The lesson is simple. Stay prepared. Stay steady. Live with awareness. Being ready is not about predicting a date but about staying close to God in everyday life.

The truth that Jesus is coming back should make us more intentional. It should remind us to keep our focus on Him, not only during major events or spiritual highs, but in the ordinary parts of life. Colossians chapter three says to set our minds on things above. This is how the early church lived. They were not panicked or obsessed with predictions. They simply stayed faithful and kept their eyes on Christ.

Jesus will return. Only God knows when. Until that day, Scripture calls us to live prepared, live focused, and honor Him in everything we do.The idea that “Jesus is coming soon” did not start with social media, news headlines, or end-times predictions. It comes straight from Scripture. In Revelation chapter twenty two, Jesus says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” These were some of His final recorded words. They were not meant to give a date.
